JSJ Consultants was born in 2016 out of a passion for helping entrepreneurs and business owners grow their enterprises. The partners had spent their careers watching too many of these owners get bogged down in the paperwork, so they set out to do something about it.


JSJ believes that small businesses are the backbone of the American economy. We respect the hustle, as we know the majority of entrepreneurs wear multiple hats. With over 60 years of experience between the Management Team and the Advisory Board, JSJ can help you save time and money on your bookkeeping and other financial services.

Jay Mickens


President & CEO

Jay has nearly 20 years of experience in the finance industry.  He began his career as a Finance Manager in 2001 and assisted in the growth of a company which is now one of the largest architectural firms in the state of Tennessee.


Jay later relocated to Texas to became the Corporate Controller of an Oil and Gas outfit.  While at this company, Jay led the entire accounting team, including managing employees, dealing with multiple currencies, consolidating financials, and handling year-end close-outs as well as annual audits.


In 2016, Jay formed JSJ Consultants, while running the company, he specializes in the Controller-level consulting, including but not limited to increasing top-line revenues, historical to current financial data, future forecasting, internal controls, year-end close-outs, payroll, and audit prep.


Shanon Hall

VP of Marketing

A seasoned entrepreneur herself, Shanon Hall knows what it's like to wear multiple hats. She has over ten years of combined experience in all aspects of running a company: marketing, administrative, human resources, and A/P-A/R. She also loves to get creative when working with clients who want to use promotional products to advertise their business. Shanon’s main focus is customer satisfaction!


Gina Ferrell

Director of Business Development

Gina has a background in business development and sales in multiple industries including oil and gas, medical, and payroll services and she has thrived in them all.  Her drive and passion to connect and build relationships is why she’s so good at what she does. She owns a small business herself so she understands the importance of Bookkeeping, Accounting, Payroll and HR and how it protects you and your business.


Gina earned a BA in Marketing from Texas State University and understands the importance of providing value to our clients. To her, being a part of JSJ Consultants means helping people, connecting with people, building relationships, and providing high quality customer service to all of our clients.

Heather Myers

Senior Account Manager

Heather is a graduate of Sam Houston State University with a bachelor’s degree in business management.  She is focused on adding value to our JSJ Consultants team so we can, in turn, provide superb customer service to our clients.    


Heather brings 20 years of customer service experience to JSJ, including 15 years in the oil and gas industry and 5 years in accounting.  She has a background in procurement, warehouse inventory, logistics, payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable.  She has led several successful projects in her career with the client’s best interest always at hand.  She is happiest when she can help clients achieve their goals while streamlining processes and removing the day to day tasks from their workload. Heather is extremely grateful to be a part of JSJ Consultants where our team of like-minded, driven individuals collaborate and produce the best ways to serve our clients.
